XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi

XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 are scheduled to be organized in Delhi. Commonwealth games are first time being organized in India. Event will start from October 3 2009 and will end on 14 October.
The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) is the organization that is responsible for the direction and control of the Commonwealth Games. CFG entrusted hosting and organization of XIX Commonwealth games 2010 to Indian Olympic Association (IOA). IOA in turn delegated organization of Commonwealth games 2010 to the OC CWG Delhi 2010 (Organizing Committee Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010).

OC CWG Delhi 2010 is structured as follows:-

* Executive Management
* Assurance
* Sub-committees
* Secretariat
* Functional Areas

Mr. Suresh Kalmadi was appointed as chairman of OC CWG Delhi 2010.

Commonwealth Games 2010 opening ceremony will be held at Javaharlal Nehru Stadium New Delhi.

Preparations were started few years back but there were news that work is behind schedule. Recently a delegation including CGF President Mr. Mike Fennell, Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, Chairman of the Organising Committee Delhi and Mr. Mike Hooper, CEO, CGF, met the Union Minister for Home Affairs Mr. P. Chidambaram, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mr. M..S. Gill, Union Minister for Urban Development Mr. Jaipal Reddy and Delhi Chief Minister Mrs. Shiela Dikshit. These meetings are important because there were news of being behind schedule and 2010 is not too far. After meeting CGF President said work is in right direction.

There are lots of things which needs to be completed by 2009 but it doesn't look like. During events lots of visitors will be coming to India and there is going to be a huge requirement of transport, infrastructure, hotels and other things. We hope things will complete as per their schedule.
